looks good yah...*smiles*

21st Oct 2008

woke up with a running nose....hate it! specially took leave today so that i can enjoy my 27th birthday and i had to have flu! nevertheless, we still went out for buffet at oscar's in conrad hotel. i've read good reviews and heard from a fren that the buffet here is good so we came to try it. haha...we were the FIRST to reach at 1215pm. the crowd started to come in after 1230pm. they have many varieties of food, and all with very good presentation. service was good, plates were cleared almost immediately and there were constant refilling of water. as for the food...not bad, i would not say fantastic but it is...not bad. *haha* deserved to be mentioned: cod fish, teppanyaki prawn, tandoori chicken, mango pudding. good!

only pic of the food...prawn martini
after our lunch buffet, we went for a show. hubby read from the forum many good reviews on "20th century boys" and we decided to catch it. it is from a comic book which tells about a group of boys whom, during their childhood, fantasize themselves as heros saving the world and wrote them in a "book of prophecies". years later, nearing the millenium, a religious cult and its mysterious leader emerges and a strange chain of events duplicating the exact events as described in the book of prophecies follow. this group of boys (middle-aged men now) came together and fight the villians.

comments after the show: okay. full of questions in my mind after the show. anyway, just to let you know that there will be sequels. so don't expect much from the ending.

right after our movie session at suntec, we went to "brusselssprouts" at robertson quay. came to this restaurant once with my colleagues and had a good impression of the mussels. here, the main attraction is their mussels, with which they have a many ways of cooking it. we order 2 pots of mussels cooked in different styles. each pot of mussels came with a bucket of belgium fries..p.s.they also provide free refill of fries here..

for desert, hubby had banana crepe and me, belgium waffle...yum!

recommended: visit the website here http://www.brusselssprouts.com.sg/index.html

today was a totally relaxed day. it would have been more enjoyable if i did not have flu..at the end of the day, i started to have a sore throat too. sucks! anyways, thanks deardear for accompanying me today..

no more computer...but....

my laptop crashed......i seriously dunno how it happened.....

though i'm not so into net surfing as my hubby or sisters, but still, i feel handicapped....right into the 20th century now, who can imagine himself/herself without a computer by his/her side? anyway, so far so good considering that my poor laptop is well into its 3rd yr now, and the only sites that i surf are my sister's/cousin's/fren's blog, facebook and fantasy premier league....not losing too much yah??

luckily, hubby started me on reading naruto...addicted to them now...1 after another....now i understand why my final year roomie was forever watching naruto on the comp, and why my sisters were so stucked onto the comic from the net...still i think it is better to read them from the comic book itself...thanks to his bro, having a whole collection of them....

to also keep me company is "sex and the city" serial....after much consideration, i finally got hold of them....some may wonder wats so nice bout the show, but to me, i think only the girls will understand (except my sis, she totally hates it!)....some of the things they mentioned bout men are so true dat i cannot help but nod while watching...and not to mention that it is so hilariously funny!!!

this is juz a random blog since the comp is free while hubby is showering.....and he is back now.....ciao2....

Sex and the City

Guys, you have to check out this movie. This show is about love, love and love. Love between husband and wife, love between boyfriend and girlfriend, love between long time friends. It was hilariously funny yet touching at some point, which brought both tears of joy and sadness to my eyes. I really enjoyed watching this show right from the start till the end. Honestly, this was not a movie that I would have chosen to watch if not for my colleagues. Thanks to them, I'm going to start watching the serial.

happy birthday, hubby

Today is his birthday, and it is the first for us as husband and wife. Not that there is a difference, just thought that I should mentioned. Took half day leave to accompany him. Wanted to catch a show at Great World City but the one that we were interested in was not showing. Went over to Vivocity for a walk before going to Craig Road for his favourite cuisine, Italian.

Found this restaurant on the net, where it was recommended by those who patronised. I decided to give it a try. The ambience is cozy and very much like those restaurant where you can find in Europe.

Pasta and mussels were good, but I cannot say the same for the salmon. It was a bit too overcooked for our taste. Anyway, it was quite an enjoyable dinner, our first taste of authentic italian food since we came back from europe.

Happy Birthday, Lao Gong...

canele @ raffles city

Tonight, sis and I went for dinner at canele in raffles city. As I've thoroughly enjoyed their prawn pesto on my first visit, I decided to bring my sis along. This time, I ordered smoked salmon pasta while my sis tried their prawn pesto. Halfway through my pasta, I bit something hard. At first I thought it was the salmon bone, but it was smoked salmon! salmon bone? I spit it out and it was a broken piece of plastic! oh gosh! I was lucky that it did not cut my tongue. I told the waiter, he apologised and feedback to the kitchen immediately. Just when we thought that they were not going to do anything about it, the waiter came back with a dessert, free from the house, he mentioned. That's good as both of us enjoyed the rose ice-cream dessert, happy that at least they did something. When the bill came, they charged us only for the prawn pesto that my sis ate. The waiter said that they are not going to charge me for the smoked salmon pasta. Great! In the end, though it was quite an experience, we were satisfied with their service and response. Food and dessert at canele is really good and I still recommend those who have not tried it to give it a try. :)

Bangkok Trip : 29 Feb - 03 Mar

Everyone who heard that it was my first trip to bangkok, they went "HUH???" So finally, we made our trip there. It's not the first trip for hubby though..he said he remembered sitting in a small boat that went "BOOOO" down the river market...anyway...

Hubby chose the hotel because of some good comments he read from the forum. We booked a superior room but lucky us, we got upgraded to executive room. Though there are no shopping centres within walking distance, we were very pleased with the hotel we've got. Breakfast and service was good and it takes less than 40 baht for a cab ride to MBK, around 50 baht to Platinum Mall.
Caught hubby doing jumping jacks....

Check out the chandeliers....

First Day: Went straight to Platinum Mall, which is a 6 storey wholesale shopping centre. Heard it was quite new. There were many shops, which were bargainable, but did not really purchased much as there were no fitting rooms in most of the shops. So we juz managed to get T-shirts. Went next to MBK, another 7 storey shopping centre. Decided to go for foot massage. All of us (including parents-in-law, bros-in-law and gf of bros-in-law) decided to go for a massage. Went to this massage shop, Lek, opposite Novotel, which was also recommended in the forum. It was my first time having a foot massage, and Yah..it was good. *smile* For dinner, we went to a famous seafood restaurant, where the Jap Prime Minister likes to visit, Somboon Seafood Restaurant. Walked a long way from Siam but it was worth it. Food was good!

Second Day: Went to the famous Chatuchak (weekend market). Reached there around 10 plus in the morning. Most of the shops were only opening up, weather was still good. It's just like a super gigantic pasar malam. There are over 10000 or more shops here. It was simply impossible to visit all the shops. Had lunch at a small and comfortable cafe. Lots of patrons, so we managed to get a sit at the bar, right in front of the owner (who was busy making drinks and taking orders). Had pasta and a big cup of fruit juice. Sedap! At night, we continue our shopping at Suan Lum night market. Similar to Chatuchak, but vendors here state much higher prices, so we also bargained more. It was really a nice place, like Holland V, with all the restaurants, but it's a pity that it will be closed down soon.

Third Day: Mama-in-law did not shopped enough at Chatuchak, so they decided to go there again. Hubby and me went to MBK again, and walked around in Siam Centre and Siam Square. Went to hardrock to buy a shotglass, to add to our collection. We went back to Lek again for massage in the evening. This time, I went for a oil massage and hubby had ear candling done. After that, we met up with the rest back at the hotel, to go Chinatown for dinner. We read from the book that Nam Sing Restaurant at Chinatown was popular and served shark fins, so we decided to try it. Food was not as fantastic, but still good. But we had the feeling that the cab driver sent us to the fake Nam Sing, as the restaurant was not big as featured in the book, and there were not as many people too. Damn!

Fourth and Last Day: Ran out of shopping centres to go. I wanted to visit the Grand Palace but hubby refused to bring me. Mama-in-law wanted to go back to Platinum Mall, so we went back there again. Just 2 days had passed, and more shops were opened now. We made our last minute shopping, hubby bought a backpack, me bought 2 bags and slippers. Mama-in-law bought a new luggage to put all her purchases.

It was quite a tiring trip, as we kept shopping and shopping. It was the first time that hubby bought more things than me! But I don't mind going back there again, maybe a year later. I want to go Grand Palace the next time!!

new year eve's dinner

Had to work the whole day today, so hubby offered to cook dinner since he is on half day leave. And since this is our first new year together as husband and wife, we decided to spend it at home doing housework. Haha. Anyway, check out our new year eve's dinner. We had aglio olio, fried eggs with onion and "small white vegetables". The vegetables were good but hubby said it was too salty. Spaghetti needs a little more boiling and fried eggs are not salty enough. My "da chu" a.k.a big chef, as I called him, said it was a long time since he last cook, so he needs some time to season it out. Yeah...I will be waiting for the next dinner! :)

Shopping Shopping and more Shopping!!! finally...my bean bag

Recently, hubby and I went crazy spending our vouchers. It was really "shiok" to spend vouchers without having to spend any of your own money. Shopping vouchers from Robinsons and Isetan were given to us as gifts. Got Takashimya vouchers from the TV we bought. Anyway, we spent most of it buying stuff for our home, which includes, kitchen utensils, cookery, towels, etc. Just last sunday, we finally found a reasonably priced bean bag for our cozy corner from molecule. Hubby had to carry it back all the way from town. It was such a funny sight that I had to take photos of him.

weekend in JB

First blog in 2008 :

Status changed and lifestyle changed now. About every fortnight, for 2 weekends now, hubby and I will go back to JB to relax and accompany his parents. Except for the horrible long queue at JB custom for foreigners, everything else is fine. But luckily, no more working Sat this year which means I do not have to queue and squeeze with all the sweaty people when we go back to JB on Sat. Yeah!

We went back last friday night since we were both on leave. Just to go there shopping is good enough for me, but of course, its not always shopping. Actually, most of the time, I don't really buy anything except for lingerie and MANGO!! Haha, and no, its not much cheaper there anyway. Was pestering hubby to bring me to karaoke. I'm not a singing person, and I will only go to karaoke with my hubby. No one else have the honour to hear my "beautiful" voice. :) Anyway, just to show some pics taken with my new phone.

hubby singing..

an embarrassing shot of me..
